Trains canceled and delayed in the Netherlands over suspected sabotage
In the Netherlands, including Amsterdam, major disruptions to train services occurred on Tuesday after materials were found on tracks at several locations. As BBC News reports, operator ProRail believes the incident may have resulted from deliberate human interference.
Cancellations and delays
ProRail warned passengers in the central and northern regions of the country about train cancellations and delays. Malfunctions at railway crossings were also recorded at several locations.
The railway network's website showed 15 disruptions in different parts of the Netherlands on Tuesday. The restrictions affected routes to the main international airport, Schiphol, as well as connections to Utrecht.

Police investigation
According to local media, pipes were attached to the tracks at several locations. ProRail said that materials placed deliberately were found on the tracks, causing malfunctions on certain sections. The company noted that this was likely sabotage.
Dutch public broadcaster NOS released video showing police officers near Veenendaal, in the central part of the country, removing from the tracks objects resembling metal pipes approximately 1.5 meters long. Suspects and possible motives have not yet been identified; the incident is being investigated by the national police unit.
