German NATO troops were attacked in the Netherlands

The case has been classified as a “security-related incident,” and the attackers’ motives are currently being determined. “Both were verbally and physically assaulted,” a representative of the German Defense Ministry in Berlin said.
The Dutch military police have also been brought in to assist with the investigation, examining all circumstances of the incident, including possible motives for the attack. In particular, investigators are looking into reports that the attackers may have shouted anti-NATO slogans and were wearing masks.
The NATO command in Brunssum is one of the Alliance’s key operational headquarters, responsible for planning the defense of Central Europe—from the Atlantic to NATO’s eastern borders. The incident drew attention due to the location of the attack and the status of the affected military personnel.
