Nigeria distributes 3.4 trillion naira in June — Premium Times Nigeria

Nigeria’s Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) distributed 3.40 trillion naira among the three tiers of government in June 2026. This was 210.68 billion naira more than in May, when the distribution totalled 3.18 trillion naira, Premium Times Nigeria reports, citing Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics.

Distribution by tier of government

In June, the federal government received 818.68 billion naira, the states received 759.14 billion naira, and 774 local councils received 534.28 billion naira. Oil-producing states were also allocated 188.13 billion naira under the 13 percent derivation mechanism.

The amount for the states included 380.31 billion naira in statutory allocations and 378.83 billion naira in value-added tax revenue. Local councils received 293.20 billion naira in such allocations and 241.07 billion naira in VAT revenue. For the federal government, these figures were 749.80 billion and 68.88 billion naira, respectively.

Transfers to special funds

June also recorded transfers and deductions: 266 billion naira to the State Infrastructure Development Fund, 500 billion naira to the Emergency Security Fund, and 100 billion naira for tax refunds to the Nigeria Revenue Service.

In May, the federal government received 787.35 billion naira, the states received 772.36 billion naira, and local councils received 540.15 billion naira. Oil-producing states were then allocated 157.25 billion naira under the 13 percent derivation mechanism. Separately, 252 billion naira was directed to the states’ infrastructure fund, while 250 billion naira went to the Military Intervention Fund.

In total, 6.58 trillion naira was distributed through FAAC in May and June. According to an analysis of FAAC records released in August, gross revenues to the Federation Account reached 18.72 trillion naira in January–June, while 12.59 trillion naira was actually distributed after deductions, transfers, refunds, and administrative expenses.
