Nicosia, Cyprus to hold joint cleanup involving two communities

On September 19, Nicosia, Cyprus, will host a joint environmental cleanup action involving Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot volunteers. The event will take place as part of the Let’s Do It! Cyprus campaign and ahead of World Cleanup Day, Cyprus Mail reports.

Two meeting points

Volunteers will gather at 9:30 a.m. at two locations in the capital’s historic center: near Faneromeni Church and Büyük Han. Both groups will clean areas along Nicosia’s Venetian Walls before meeting at approximately 11:00 a.m. at the Home for Cooperation.

The organizers noted that the joint initiative will give participants from both communities an opportunity to get acquainted and contribute to preserving their shared environment.

Participation without registration

Participation in the action is free, and no prior registration is required. Individuals, groups, and companies can join by arriving at one of the meeting points at 9:30 a.m. The organizers will provide the necessary cleanup equipment.

Participants are advised to wear comfortable shoes and bring water and a hat. Let’s Do It! Cyprus is the largest environmental action of this kind in Cyprus and is held in cooperation with Yeşil Barış Hareketi. World Cleanup Day is observed on September 20, and the United Nations has recognized it as an international day.
