In Germany, entire villages are being turned into hotel complexes — BILD

In the picturesque German region of the Black Forest, preparations are underway for the launch of an ambitious tourism project that aims to transform traditional villages into integrated hotel chains.

This was reported by BILD.

The initiative by Schwarzwald Tourismus is based on the Italian concept of a “scattered hotel,” where instead of a single large building, rooms are located in various buildings within a single settlement.

The main idea of the project is the absence of the usual hotel infrastructure in one place—tourists will stay directly in the homes and apartments of local residents.

The village’s central square will serve as the reception area, breakfasts will be provided by local bakeries, and dinners by authentic rural restaurants.

This will allow travelers to fully immerse themselves in the region’s atmosphere and feel like part of the local community.

The project’s creators are convinced that this model is an effective tool for sustaining life and the economy in small towns.

“We’re not just talking about tourism, but also about rural development. If everything works out, we’ll be able to save bakeries and hotels that would otherwise have to close,” emphasized project leader Heide Glasstetter.

This initiative will help save small businesses that have recently been on the brink of disappearing due to population outflow.

The active selection phase for communities to participate in the pilot program is currently underway. Three official applications have already been submitted, and several other communities have expressed preliminary interest in implementing this idea.

Organizers are carefully reviewing applicants to ensure they meet the project’s technical and social criteria.

Among the key requirements for villages is the compact layout of all tourist attractions, which must be located within a radius of no more than 400 meters from one another.

In addition to architectural conditions, full support for the concept from the residents themselves is critically important. Residents must be prepared for their daily lives to become part of a large-scale tourism operation.

As a reminder, Germany is demanding explanations from Hungary regarding a possible leak of EU data to Russia.

Germany also acknowledges the failure of its nuclear phase-out.
