In Germany, the price of E10 petrol reached a record €2.215 per litre
The average price of a litre of E10 petrol in Germany reached a new nominal record of €2.215 on Wednesday. This is higher than the previous maximum of €2.203 per litre, recorded in March 2022.

According to The Local Germany, the ADAC automobile club announced the new record on Thursday. The price is a nationwide daily average.
At €2.215 per litre, filling the 40-litre tank of a compact car costs €88.60, while filling the 70-litre tank of a large SUV costs €155.05.
E10 is the cheapest of the common types of petrol in Germany. It usually costs 5–6 euro cents less per litre than Super E5, which may contain a lower proportion of biofuel.

Factors behind the price increase
The publication links the latest rise in prices to the escalation of attacks and counterattacks between the United States and Iran. According to its data, this once again caused crude oil prices to rise.

The price is also affected by low water levels in the Rhine, which have increased transport costs. About 15–20% of all finished petrol in Germany is transported by river.
The new high is a nominal record, meaning the highest figure in euros. Adjusted for inflation, petrol in Germany was more expensive in the past, including in 2012.
