In New York, man with knife-like object chased yeshiva student — Jerusalem Post

In the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, a man with a knife-like object chased a yeshiva student to his home and shouted antisemitic slurs. Surveillance cameras recorded the incident at approximately 2:33 a.m. on Wednesday.

Chase near the house

As The Jerusalem Post reports, the video shows the man chasing the student down a residential street and then up the stairs to the entrance of the house. During the chase, he told the student that he now knew where he lived, after which he shouted a Nazi salute to Hitler. As the student headed toward the door, the attacker continued shouting racial and antisemitic slurs.

Suspect detained

According to local outlet COLlive, the man also allegedly slashed the tires of bicycles parked on the property near the house before fleeing. The Crown Heights Shmira volunteer patrol and the New York City Police Department were called to the scene.

Law enforcement officers soon found the suspect nearby, but he fled again by jumping over fences on private properties. After a search involving Shmira volunteers, the man was located again and taken into custody by officers from the NYPD's 77th Precinct. The NYPD Hate Crimes Unit is conducting the investigation.
