Late in the evening on March 22, a major accident occurred at LaGuardia Airport involving an Air Canada passenger plane and a fire truck.

As a result of the collision, which occurred directly on the runway, at least 60 people sustained injuries of varying severity.
According to preliminary data from NYCFireWire emergency services, the incident occurred around 11:37 p.m. in the terminal area typically used by Delta Air Lines.
All units of the New York Fire Department (FDNY) were immediately dispatched to the scene of the emergency.
Footage shared on social media shows severe damage to the front of the aircraft. The cockpit sustained the most damage, indicating a high-impact collision between the vehicles at high speed.
Authorities have not yet released detailed information about the condition of the 60 injured, who may include passengers, crew members, and ground personnel.
Eyewitnesses describe the situation at the airport as chaotic, as hundreds of people were forced to evacuate directly onto the concrete runway surface.
Rescue operations continued throughout the night, and medical personnel set up mobile aid stations near the damaged aircraft.
The area around the aircraft remains cordoned off with emergency equipment to prevent a potential fuel fire.
Due to the aviation incident, the administration of one of the busiest transportation hubs in the U.S. decided to suspend all flights. The airport will remain closed until at least 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23.
This decision has already led to the mass cancellation and delay of hundreds of flights, affecting thousands of passengers worldwide. Airlines are urging customers to check the status of their flights before heading to the terminals.
Emergency services continue to work on clearing the runway and securing the area. Experts must tow away the wrecked plane and fire truck to restore normal airport operations.
