King Harald V buried in Norway
A state funeral for King Harald V, who died at the age of 89, was held in Oslo, Norway. On Wednesday, the monarch's coffin was transported from the Royal Palace to the capital's Lutheran cathedral under a 21-gun salute. Thousands of people took to the streets of Oslo to bid farewell to the king, Deutsche Welle English reports.
National mourning
The funeral procession and ceremony concluded 13 days of national mourning following Harald V's death. He ruled Norway for 35 years and did not abdicate in old age, unlike the modern tradition of abdication.

Ceremony guests
Heads of state and government from various countries attended the funeral. Participants included Prince William and Princess Anne of the United Kingdom, Japan's Crown Prince Fumihito and his wife Princess Kiko, Spain's King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, as well as representatives of the royal families of Denmark and Sweden.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier also attended the ceremony. Harald V's son, King Haakon VIII, attended the ceremony with his mother, Queen Sonja, and his wife, Queen Mette-Marit.
