Nearly 10,000 shop owners join tax scheme in Pakistan — Dawn
According to Dawn, 9,806 shop owners in Pakistan registered for the Asan Tax Scheme during the first month after its launch. The data were presented at a meeting in Islamabad chaired by Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani.
New taxpayers
According to an official statement, 1,929 registered shop owners joined the tax system for the first time. Another 428 participants have already filed tax returns, while the rest are at various stages of filing them.
Tax returns were filed by shop owners from both small and large cities across the country. Traders' representatives Ajmal Baloch and Kashif Chaudhry also attended the meeting. The participants reviewed the progress of the scheme's implementation.

Instructions to the tax authority
Kayani instructed Pakistan's Federal Board of Revenue to promptly address technical remarks on the scheme's implementation raised by shop owners and lawyers. He also ordered that Federal Board of Revenue plaques be provided as soon as possible to shop owners who have already filed returns.
According to the minister, the Asan Tax Scheme was created specifically for shop owners and is unavailable to other business segments. He expressed hope that more shop owners would join the programme.
