Two women stabbed to death in Haripur, Pakistan — Dawn

In the city of Haripur, Pakistan, two married women were fatally stabbed over the past 48 hours. In one case, police detained the deceased woman's 17-year-old son as a suspect.

As Dawn reports, the first incident occurred in the Saidabad area of Kotnajibullah. Industrial enterprise employee Qaisar Mehmood told police that he returned from work in the evening and found the front door of the house locked from the inside. After receiving no response from his relatives, he entered the home through the roof of a neighboring house.

Woman found on the stairs of the house

Inside, the man found the body of his 32-year-old wife, Kiran Shehzadi, on the stairs. His mother, Shafai Khanum, was found unconscious in a bedroom.

According to police and doctors, Kiran Shehzadi was attacked by unknown individuals and stabbed. The deceased woman's body and the unconscious woman were taken to the Kotnajibullah Rural Health Centre, where the complainant's mother was receiving treatment. Police said they would be able to establish the motive for the murder and identify the attackers after the woman regains consciousness. Qaisar Mehmood did not name any possible suspects, stating that he had no conflicts with anyone.

Police detain deceased woman's son

The second attack occurred in the Haball area in Sector Four of the Halabat township. Thirty-five-year-old Salma Bibi was stabbed, after which neighbors took her to a trauma center. Several hours later, the woman died from her injuries.

Her husband, Anwar Saeed, told local police that while he was at work, he received information that his wife had been injured. According to him, their 17-year-old son may have been involved in the attack; before that, he allegedly had an argument with his mother for an undetermined reason. Police detained the teenager as a suspect.
