Six security personnel killed in clash in Pakistan’s Hangu — Dawn
Two officers and four security personnel were killed in Pakistan’s Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province during a clash between a security forces convoy and militants. According to Dawn, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said this.
Security forces’ losses
According to the ISPR, Captain Abuzar Farooq, a 23-year-old resident of Gujranwala district, and Lieutenant Shiraz Babar, a 22-year-old resident of Chakwal district, were killed during an intense exchange of fire. The agency said the officers were leading their units during the battle. Four more security personnel were killed alongside them.

ISPR statement
Pakistan’s military reported that eight militants were killed as a result of the security forces’ actions. The ISPR called them “khawarij” and said they belonged to Fitna-Al-Khwarij, which the agency describes as a group backed by India.
After the clash, a sanitisation operation continued in the Hangu area to identify other militants, the ISPR said. The agency also stated that security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue the Azm-i-Istehkam counterterrorism campaign, approved by the Federal Apex Committee of the National Action Plan.
