TLP leader detained in Pakistan in terror financing case — Dawn
Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has detained Syed Inayatullah Haq Shah, the North Punjab emir of the banned Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) party, in a case involving several charges, including alleged terror financing. The FIA also secured a nine-day remand for the suspect, Dawn reports.
Detention in Rawalpindi
As a senior FIA official told the publication, Shah was one of eight key TLP financiers detained by a joint team from the agency’s counterterrorism wing. Operations were conducted in Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, where Shah was located.
According to the official, during the review, the FIA’s counterterrorism wing identified 1,800 suspicious accounts that Shah, his family members and other suspects allegedly used to finance the banned party.

Financial transactions
The FIA said that Shah and his associates withdrew 13.4 million Pakistani rupees in cash from a madrassa account on October 13 and 14, 2025. This occurred during a violent TLP march that began in Lahore and reached Muridke.
The FIA believes that the large cash withdrawals gave grounds to suspect that the funds were used to finance the march. Case materials state that the unit was examining financial transactions involving TLP leaders, financiers, associates and related persons, including transactions that could have been linked to the party’s mobilization and the events in Muridke.
Investigators paid particular attention to transactions conducted from October 9 to 15, 2025. According to the FIA, significant financial activity was recorded in the personal and religious institution-related accounts of Shah, also known as Sultanpuri, and his father, Syed Ziaul Haq Shah. The agency claims that neither appeared to explain the origin, purpose and use of the 13.4 million rupees.
