Crocodile handler dies after attack in Papua New Guinea
In Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, an employee of the Adventure Park wildlife park died after a crocodile attack in an enclosure. The man was taken to 3 Mile General Hospital, but died of his injuries at 7 a.m.
Attack in the enclosure
As ABC News Australia reports, the attack occurred the previous afternoon while the employee was in the enclosure with the crocodile. Eyewitness Gibson John said the man brought a chicken to the fence to feed the animal. According to him, the crocodile attacked the employee and tried to drag him into the pool.
In a video circulated on social media, ABC notes, the employee can be seen holding onto the edge of the pool while the crocodile is likely holding his legs in its jaws. People gathered near the enclosure: one person extended a pole to the victim through the fence, while another appeared to support him from the edge of the pool.

Eyewitness account
John stated that the crocodile held the victim's legs for more than an hour until help arrived. He also said that he contacted the St John’s Ambulance service.
According to the eyewitness, he was later told that the man lost a leg before being transported to the hospital. John also said that the employee was from the Western Islands in northern Papua New Guinea.
