Raids targeting men have begun in the Penza Region of the Russian Federation

In towns across Russia’s Penza Oblast, local residents are reporting instances of forced conscription of men and raids by military registration and enlistment offices.

According to local residents, on the night of June 16–17, near the military registration and enlistment office in the town of Kamianka, women tried to prevent the detention of men who, they said, were being taken away in a minibus.

It is also alleged that military registration office staff are reportedly traveling in black minibuses at night, standing guard near liquor stores to detain intoxicated men, and forcing people to sign documents while under the influence.

On June 18, the Russian National Guard announced a raid to verify military registration status. According to official data, approximately 80 people were checked, and 9 were served with draft notices.

Local media and social media also report other cases of abductions and torture of individual residents, who were allegedly forced to go to war, cases of forced signing of contracts under duress, and the removal of men from their homes to military registration and enlistment offices, followed by their transfer to the Rostov Region of the Russian Federation.

In particular, a local resident appealed to the head of the Russian Investigative Committee, stating that her 58-year-old father was taken from their home and forcibly sent away after a brief meeting with relatives under the supervision of an escort.

Reports of similar mobilization measures in April and May are also appearing on social media; according to local residents, these measures are systematic in nature.

ASTRA reports this, citing testimonies from Russians.

Earlier, Russian State Duma Deputy Andrei Gurulev claimed that his Telegram account had allegedly been hacked after a message appeared about a possible new wave of mobilization in Russia this fall and problems facing the Russian army on the front lines.

It was previously reported that Russia may announce another mobilization this fall amid the difficult situation on the Ukrainian front, the failure of the winter-spring offensive, and significant losses. State Duma Deputy Andrei Gurulov made this statement, linking the possible decision to Russia’s military setbacks in the war against Ukraine.
