In Poland, Czarzasty announces healthcare debate with 400 participants — Interia
In Poland, Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty has announced a nationwide debate on healthcare, scheduled to take place on October 30. Around 400 people have already registered for the event, Interia reports.
Representatives of patient organizations, hospitals, chambers and trade unions, as well as professors and rectors of medical universities, have accepted the invitation. According to Czarzasty, participants are to develop long-term solutions for Poland's healthcare system that are independent of party politics.
Queues and doctors' pay
Among the topics listed for the debate are queues for medical services and cases of bypassing them. Czarzasty said that the first legislative initiatives in the healthcare sector are already being submitted to the Sejm.
The marshal also mentioned the possibility of restrictions on the salaries and remuneration of medical professionals. They also plan to discuss excise duty and directing part of its revenue to the healthcare system.

Another proposed change is the creation of a register of doctors' activity. According to Czarzasty, this is intended to help monitor situations in which a medical professional is simultaneously listed on the work schedules of several hospitals.
The Left's proposals
In June, The Left had already proposed setting a maximum level of doctors' remuneration, ensuring the recording of their working hours, and analyzing the use of medical equipment. At the time, Czarzasty stressed that the initiative was not directed against doctors but concerned systemic problems.
The discussion about medical professionals' incomes intensified after reports about doctor and then-adviser to the Civic Coalition Dawid Kacprzyk. According to Interia, in 2025 he earned about 1.6 million zlotys, including by working at Warsaw's Southern Hospital. The outlet also reported that after the case became public, Kacprzyk returned 500,000 zlotys to the hospital due to invoice corrections, but the institution later returned the money to him. The doctor explained that the corrections were temporary and cautious while an audit was underway.
