Poland Calls Criticism of Aid to Ukraine Absurd

Włodzimierz Czazasty, Marshal of the Polish Sejm, criticized politicians who opposed the transfer of five missiles for the Patriot systems to Ukraine, calling their reaction “absurd.”

“This is absurd. At first, this whole situation made it seem as if we were disarming ourselves for the benefit of Ukraine,” Chazasty said.

According to him, supporting Ukraine is in Poland’s own security interests. He emphasized that Warsaw should not only help Kyiv but also call on other countries to do the same.

“Poland’s role, first and foremost with regard to our country’s security, is to help and urge everyone to help,” the politician said.

Czazhasty also noted that Ukrainians are paying for the resistance against Russian aggression with their own lives, while allies are providing money and weapons.

Separately, he cited data on Ukrainians’ contribution to Poland’s economy. According to him, they account for 5% of the country’s workforce and generate 2.7% of GDP.

Poland may transfer MiG-29s to Ukraine in exchange for drones.

As a reminder, European countries have stepped up their search for interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems they plan to transfer to Ukraine. Kyiv is seeking to strengthen its missile defense ahead of a possible new wave of Russian attacks this winter.

Earlier, Finland explained why it would not transfer Patriot missiles to Ukraine.
