In Poland, an unknown assailant struck a Ukrainian woman on the head with a stick
In the Polish city of Gdynia, an unknown man attacked a 40-year-old Ukrainian woman, striking her twice on the back of the head with a wooden stick. After the attack, the assailant fled, and the police launched a manhunt.
The incident occurred on July 30 at approximately 3:30 p.m. on the stairs on Żelazna Street in Gdynia.
According to law enforcement, an unknown man approached the woman from behind and struck her twice with a wooden stick on the back of her head, after which he left the scene.
The trojmiasto.pl website published a video filmed immediately after the attack. In the footage, the victim, sitting on the ground with a bloodied head, says she did not see the attacker because the blow was delivered by surprise.
According to the woman, the object used to strike her was “very hard.”
Police spokesperson Marek Kobialko reported that law enforcement officers conducted an on-site investigation with the assistance of forensic experts, collected physical evidence, and documented all the circumstances of the incident.
The victim was taken to the Gdynia City Hospital, where she received the necessary medical care. After being examined, she was discharged; her life is not in danger.
Polish law enforcement is currently analyzing the evidence collected and working to identify the attacker.
Police note that, as of now, there is no reason to believe the attack was motivated by ethnic hatred.
At the same time, information is circulating on social media that the woman was speaking Ukrainian on the phone before the attack, and this fact is also being investigated as part of the probe.
