A Belarusian man was convicted in Poland for planning a sabotage operation

The District Court in Lublin sentenced 28-year-old Belarusian citizen Vitaly S. to three years and six months in prison for planning a sabotage operation on behalf of a foreign intelligence service. 

According to the investigation, the defendant filmed one of the customs warehouses in Chełm—which was to be set on fire—and sent the footage to the client. For completing the task, the man received payment in cryptocurrency equivalent to approximately 1,400 zlotys. The defendant was arrested on August 13, 2025, and has been in custody ever since. In addition to planning the sabotage, he was also found guilty of drug possession.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court ruled to strip the defendant of his civil rights for nine years and imposed a fine of 1,500 zlotys.

Polish law enforcement is investigating the arson of the defense industry company WB Electronics in Skarżysko-Kamienna, in central Poland. The plant manufactures unmanned aerial systems. The fire occurred on August 31, and the damage has been preliminarily estimated at at least 15 million zlotys, or 3.5 million euros.

In Poland, equipment was set on fire near a nuclear power plant construction site; police confirmed it was an act of sabotage.
