First birth of Jewish New Year 5787 takes place in Pוריה, Israel

The first birth of the Jewish New Year 5787 took place on Friday at the Tzafon Medical Center in Poria in northern Israel: Hodia Cohen-Alilisvili from Hodiot gave birth to a girl, The Jerusalem Post reports.

After the Rosh Hashanah celebration

The woman arrived at the hospital in her 39th week of pregnancy. Before that, she had celebrated Rosh Hashanah at her parents' home in Tiberias with her husband Tal and their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Her contractions began there.

The newborn weighed slightly more than three kilograms. The delivery was attended by shift manager and deputy midwife Tahrir Masalha.

The midwife's assessment

According to Masalha, when Cohen-Alilisvili arrived at the medical center, she was calm and determined. The midwife said that the birth took place naturally, without pain medication.

“She gave birth naturally without pain relief and cooperated wonderfully throughout the entire process,” Masalha said. According to her, there is no better way for the team to begin the new year than with the birth of a new life; she also called being alongside the family at such a moment a great honor.
