In Russia, police officers beat a British man who had come for his grandmother's funeral
In Essentuki, police allegedly detained and beat a British citizen, Dzmitry Smatrytski, on the street; he had traveled to Russia to attend his grandmother’s funeral.
According to the man, he was looking for a funeral home when several men who identified themselves as police officers approached him and demanded that he get into their car. When he refused, they began beating him.
Smatricki claims that the beating continued at the police station. The officers called him a “Tetsakashnik” and stated that “we’re on a hunt here.”
After his release, the man sought medical attention. Doctors diagnosed him with a concussion and fractures. The British man filed a complaint with the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, but the investigator stated that the cameras at the police station were not working and advised him to leave Russia as soon as possible.
Putin claimed two fictitious victories for Russia.
As a reminder, Putin threatened Ukraine with new attacks on its energy sector.
During the summit in Bishkek, the Russian delegation, led by dictator Vladimir Putin, held a meeting with the Chinese delegation, where the Kremlin leader attempted to paint a rosy picture of a shared future for Russia and China to Xi Jinping. But the whole thing turned out to be rather pathetic.
