Russia is introducing a course on "love for the motherland" for elementary school students

Starting September 1, Russian schools plan to introduce a new extracurricular course titled “My Family” for elementary school students.

This is reported by Russian media.

According to the curriculum, first-graders will be taught about “love for their fellow citizens and their homeland.” In second grade, children will be introduced to “traditional spiritual and moral values,” and course topics will include “Love for the Homeland,” “Historical Memory,” and “Strong Family.”

In third grade, attention will be focused on developing “good qualities and virtues,” and in fourth grade—on relationships between adults and children and preparation for adolescence.

Classes are planned to be held once a month. At the same time, the course will not be mandatory—schools themselves will decide whether to implement it, taking parents’ wishes into account.

After three years of unexpected economic growth, Russia is facing a sudden slowdown—war spending, inflation, and falling oil prices have begun to weigh on an economy that until recently seemed resilient to sanctions.

Consumer lending in Russia has fallen to a six-year low.
