In Romania, a gymnast is suspected of assaulting a young man
An investigation is underway in Romania into a 19-year-old athlete, a medalist at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships, who is suspected of being involved in a dispute with her boyfriend—a member of the men’s national team. The incident occurred following a personal argument, and law enforcement is investigating the circumstances.
According to a source, Kotilran refused to spend time with the gymnast, which angered her. The athlete punched him several times in the face, while the gymnast did not resist. It is noted that video cameras are installed at the sports complex where the incident occurred.
The victim contacted the National Institute of Forensic Medicine and filed a report with the police. He is awaiting the forensic medical report, after which he will decide on his next steps.
“We will not tolerate such behavior, which contradicts the values of sport and the principles of respect that we promote. We understand that complaints have been filed with the competent authorities, and we are awaiting more detailed information,” said Ioan Suciu, president of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation.
