A mass brawl broke out in Romania between two Romani families

A fight broke out Tuesday evening in downtown Timișoara, Romania, between members of two Romani families. To put an end to the conflict, law enforcement had to call in gendarmes and special police units

According to preliminary reports, the fight began after an argument between two children belonging to the rival Stancu and Shain clans.

Adults intervened in the conflict. Subsequently, members of the two families began beating each other with their fists and feet.

Police officers patrolling the city center were the first to arrive at the scene. Due to the scale of the conflict, they called for backup from other law enforcement officers.

Shortly thereafter, gendarmes and members of police special forces arrived at the scene.

As a result of the incident, law enforcement officers detained nine people and took them in for questioning.

Those involved in the conflict were fined for disturbing the peace and violating public order. At the same time, some of those detained may be subject to administrative detention for up to 24 hours.

According to preliminary information, no one was injured as a result of the brawl.

As a reminder, on Sunday, July 1, in the city of Berehove in Transcarpathia, a local Romani woman was fatally stabbed on the grounds of a railway depot. According to the publication “Novyny Zakarpattia, the injured woman fled from her attackers and made her way to the home of a local resident, where she died from her injuries. The woman was about 30 years old.
