Serbia apologizes for statement about Ukraine’s “territorial payment”
The Minister of Information and Telecommunications of Serbia, Boris Bratina, stated that he takes responsibility for the controversial words suggesting that Ukraine supposedly must “pay with territory.”
This was reported by the Serbian Ministry of Information and Telecommunications.
The ministry noted that Bratina publicly apologized for the statement made on December 17 on the Informer TV channel, in which he claimed that Croatia, like Ukraine, must pay with territory. They acknowledged that these words caused misunderstandings and harmed relations between friendly countries.
The ministry emphasized that the statement was misinterpreted and referred to a much older historical period. It also stressed that Bratina supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, which aligns with Serbia’s official position.
The minister fully took responsibility for the situation and apologized to everyone who might have been offended by his statement. The ministry added that it remains committed to the principles of responsible and professional work.
