Plateau State imposes curfew after attacks — Premium Times Nigeria
Authorities in Nigeria’s Plateau State have imposed a curfew in the Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu local government areas after a series of attacks that caused casualties. According to Premium Times Nigeria, movement restrictions will be in effect from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., effective immediately and until further notice.
Restrictions for residents
State Commissioner for Information and Communications Joyce Ramnap said the decision is intended to maintain public order, help stabilize the situation in the affected areas, protect people and prevent further disturbances.
Security personnel have been instructed to strictly enforce the curfew. The use of motorcycles was also immediately banned in the three areas. Residents were urged to plan commercial, agricultural and personal activities with the movement restriction hours in mind.

Reports of deaths
The restrictions were preceded by fresh attacks in different parts of the state, in which at least nine people were reportedly killed from Saturday evening to Sunday morning. According to the outlet, five people were killed in Gana-Ropp in Barkin Ladi on Saturday evening. Another two people, including a pastor, were reportedly killed in Dorowa-Babuje on their way to church on Sunday.
Separate killings were also reported in Baten-Wereng in Riyom and Ratidi in Fan ward. Community representatives confirmed these incidents and called for increased security, as well as the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
Other attacks were also reported in the state between September 13 and 19. In particular, nine people were reportedly killed after armed men attacked a commercial vehicle in Dungus, in Kuru ward of Jos South. In Mangu, three people were killed and another seven were injured, including a seven-month-old baby, during a shooting at a farmers’ market.
