In the Guildford suburb in western Sydney, a 28-year-old man was shot at a home. He was taken to hospital, where he remains in critical condition. According to sources of ABC News Australia, the victim is a relative of the Alameddine family.

Police were called to the residence at about 7:40 p.m. on Saturday after reports that a man had sustained gunshot wounds to the back.
According to police, several men entered the house, shot the 28-year-old man and then fled in a white SUV. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene before he was taken to hospital.

ABC News Australia reports that the Alameddine family operates in Western Sydney and, according to media reports, is linked to a criminal network. Over the past year, it has been involved in a series of reciprocal acts of violence with other groups.
Senior family members, including Rafat Alameddine, left Australia in 2023 and, according to ABC, are hiding in Lebanon. The outlet notes that the current shooting may heighten tensions between the Alameddines and their rivals.
Earlier this year, a car was set on fire on the same street as part of a conflict between the Alameddines and a group calling itself the Coconut Cartel. According to ABC, on January 21, attackers went to the wrong address and burned the car of an innocent neighbour. They left a cardboard sign carrying a message linked to the Coconut Cartel near the site of the arson.
