Singapore to publish daily haze advisories
Singapore’s National Environment Agency (NEA) will begin publishing daily advisories on haze caused by air pollution from the evening of September 4. The decision was made after the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) in Singapore’s central region reached an unhealthy level.
First exceedance since 2023
At 7:00 a.m. on September 4, the PSI entered the unhealthy range due to haze. This happened for the first time since October 8, 2023, Channel NewsAsia reports.
In a joint statement issued on behalf of the agencies of the Haze Task Force, the NEA said that the group’s members had introduced their own action plans and recommendations to protect public health and well-being.

24-hour forecast
The NEA’s daily advisories will include a forecast for the 24-hour PSI. The agency said it would help residents plan activities and measures for the next 24 hours.
According to the NEA, the health effects of haze depend on a person’s condition, the PSI level, and the duration and intensity of outdoor activity. The agency recommends reducing time spent outdoors and physical exertion, as well as drinking enough water.
People with chronic heart and lung conditions are advised to keep necessary medication on hand. Elderly people, pregnant women, children, and people with such chronic conditions who have symptoms or feel unwell should seek medical attention as soon as possible.
