One of the country's five largest floating solar power plants has been launched in the U.S.

A 6-MW floating solar power plant has been launched in the U.S. state of Ohio. More than 9,000 solar modules were installed on the surface of a local reservoir.

The new plant is now the largest floating solar power plant in Ohio and ranks among the top five most powerful floating solar power plants in the United States.

The solar power plant consists of three floating platforms with a total area of about 12 acres.

The solar panels installed on them generate electricity that is fed directly into the local distribution grid.

Placing the equipment on a reservoir allows for the generation of solar energy without using significant amounts of land.

The new facility in Ohio demonstrates the potential for developing solar power generation on bodies of water without occupying valuable land that could be used for other purposes.

Floating solar power plants combine renewable energy production with efficient land use, making such projects one of the key areas for the development of solar energy.

This was reported by the developer, D3Energy.

As a reminder, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has rescinded the requirements introduced under the Biden administration for significant emissions reductions at existing and future coal- and gas-fired power plants. The final rule was announced on Monday during the G20 Energy Ministers’ Summit in Houston.

In addition, the second power unit of the Carbon One project, which runs on waste gases, has been commissioned in China’s Guizhou Province. Engineers from the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) successfully connected the plant to the public power grid. The facility is billed as the world’s first power plant of this scale to use such technology for converting energy from industrial emissions.
