FBI Deputy Director Andrew Bailey announces resignation in the US — The Hill

In the United States, Federal Bureau of Investigation Deputy Director Andrew Bailey announced that he is leaving his post about a year after joining President Donald Trump’s administration, The Hill reports.

Return to family

In a post on social media platform X, Bailey thanked President Trump, Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel for the opportunity to serve. He said he was resigning in order to return to his family in the state of Missouri.

Bailey also expressed confidence that Patel would continue reforming the FBI, fighting violent crime, protecting the country, ensuring accountability within the organization and restoring public trust in the agency.

FBI director’s reaction

Kash Patel thanked Bailey for his service and said that he had helped return the FBI to its core mission. According to the bureau director, Bailey’s contribution to implementing reforms will remain after his departure.

Before joining the FBI, Bailey served as Missouri’s attorney general for more than two years. Last year, he became co-deputy director of the FBI alongside Dan Bongino. Bongino left the bureau in January and returned to his radio show.
