Taipei police refer suspected murder case to prosecutors — Taipei Times
Taipei police in Taiwan have referred case materials concerning the suspected murder of a 36-year-old Thai national to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office. Law enforcement officials identified the suspect as a 43-year-old Taiwanese man surnamed Wu, who works for a technology company in Taichung.
The woman’s disappearance
As Taipei Times reports, Wu met the woman, identified as Art, during a trip to Thailand. They maintained a long-distance relationship and occasionally traveled to visit one another.
According to the investigation, Art flew to Taiwan on September 2 to end the relationship. She raised the issue during a meeting with Wu at the hotel where she was staying, after which she was no longer seen and did not make contact. The woman was due to leave Taiwan on Monday, but her family was unable to reach her and asked friends in Taiwan to report her disappearance to police.

Detention and discovery of the body
Police reviewed surveillance camera footage and determined that Art had checked into a hotel near the Ximending area. Wu arrived there late on the evening of September 12, and on the morning of September 13 he left the building with a large suitcase.
Wu was detained on Friday on suspicion of involvement in the crime. According to police, during questioning he said that he became angry after the breakup and strangled the woman. Law enforcement officials also said that Wu told them he was able to hide the body in a freezer rented by the company where he worked.
Officers from the Wanhua District police precinct took Wu to the company’s office in Taichung and found Art’s body there. After an autopsy conducted by a forensic medical expert from the prosecutors’ office, Wu was returned to Taipei and handed over to prosecutors in a suspected murder case.
