Roadwork on Liivalaia Street in Tallinn will be completed by October 25
Next week in Tallinn, work will begin on resurfacing Liivalaia tänav—one of the main streets in the center of the Estonian capital. The work will take place on the section between Juhkentali Street and Pärnu Road. Paving will continue until October 18, and all work is scheduled to be completed by October 25, according to ERR News.
Preparations for the repairs, surveying work, and the development of construction plans for the street have been underway since early August. Milling and removal of the asphalt concrete layer on the sidewalk are scheduled to begin on August 17.
The installation of the crushed stone base is scheduled for late August through late September. The new pavement will be laid from September 7 through October 18. Landscaping and the application of road markings are also expected to be completed by October 25.

Roadwork will also continue in other areas of Tallinn throughout late summer and fall. In particular, repairs will continue on Pärnu maantee in the Nõmme district. In the Kesklinn district, the pavement will be renewed on Lubja tänav between the tram tracks and Vilmsi tänav, on certain sections of Tartu maantee, as well as on Türnpu tänav, Gonsiori tänav, Teatri väljak, Kaarli puiestee, and Juhkentali tänav.
These projects involve milling and removing the old pavement, laying new asphalt, and repairing and installing curbs and artificial stone paving. Landscaping and road marking are also planned. According to Erkki Vaheroja, head of the Tallinn Department of Urban Environment and Public Works, the repairs have been divided into several phases, and work in different areas will begin gradually as projects are completed.
Other planned projects include the construction of a road between Marta tänav and Asula tänav, the reconstruction of the external road network at the Tallinn Botanical Garden, and work related to the construction of the Teelise bus terminal. Road reconstruction is also planned for this fall in the second quarter of Mustamäe and on Rahumäe tee.
