A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck the province of Malatya in Turkey — Anadolu
An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale was recorded in the Battalgazi district of the Turkish province of Malatya on the morning of May 20. According to seismological services, the tremors occurred in eastern Turkey. Information regarding possible damage and casualties is still being verified.

According to the Directorate of Emergency and Disaster Management, a 5.6-magnitude earthquake with its epicenter in the Battalgazi district was recorded. It was determined that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 7.03 kilometers.
The earthquake was also felt in a number of neighboring provinces. As soon as the tremors were felt, people began to leave buildings and gather in open areas.
No negative consequences have been reported so far. Work is ongoing to survey the area. Due to the earthquake in the Battalgaza area, classes in schools have been canceled.
