Trump's approval rating has hit a record low amid dissatisfaction among Republicans — Reuters

U.S. President Donald Trump's approval rating among Americans has fallen to nearly its lowest level since he returned to the White House.

This is according to Reuters.

The main reason for the drop in approval ratings was not the actions of the opposition Democratic Party, but rather the rapid growth of internal discontent among members of his own Republican Party.

Republicans are expressing deep concern about the country’s economic situation and the administration’s inability to curb inflation.

According to the latest poll, only 35% of respondents approve of Donald Trump’s performance as president.

This figure shows a negative trend and has fallen by another 1% compared to the previous survey, which was conducted earlier this month.

The popularity of the current U.S. leader has suffered significantly due to a sharp rise in gasoline prices on the domestic market, which has directly affected citizens’ purchasing power.

The economic crisis in the energy sector intensified after the U.S. president ordered joint strikes against Iran alongside Israel in February.

The military conflict significantly disrupted global oil trade, causing retail prices for automotive fuel for American consumers to jump by approximately 50%.

This situation has caused panic and serious concern among Trump’s closest allies in the Republican Party.

The drop in support comes ahead of the important midterm congressional elections scheduled for November.

Control of both chambers of the U.S. Congress will be decided in this vote, so the leader’s low approval ratings threaten the Republicans’ positions.

Pollsters note that currently 21% of Republicans disapprove of the president’s performance, although immediately after his inauguration in January 2025, that figure stood at just 5%.

About 79% of Republicans in the poll said Trump is doing a good job, compared to 82% at the beginning of the month and 91% at the start of his term.

His fellow party members are most dissatisfied with how the White House leader is handling the cost of living.

During his election campaign, Trump actively promised to quickly lower prices amid the high inflation that plagued his predecessor, Joe Biden.

The day before, U.S. President Donald Trump announced significant progress in negotiations with Tehran, noting that as part of a potential agreement, Iran could transfer its highly enriched uranium to the United States.

At the same time, Trump once again repeated the threats he has been making in recent weeks: “If they agree, it’s over; if not, we’ll bomb them.”

Official Tehran refused to participate in the second round of peace talks with the United States, which were to take place in Islamabad.
