The active phase of the international Sea Breeze exercises, led by Ukraine, is underway in the United Kingdom

On July 20, the active phase of the maritime component of the annual Sea Breeze exercises took place in Portland (United Kingdom) under the joint leadership of Ukraine and the United States. The main focus of the exercises was on conducting mine countermeasures operations, which are critical to the security of the Black and Azov Seas and to restoring the country’s economic potential.

During the exercises, ships carried out practical tasks involving the search for, neutralization of, and identification of explosive objects at sea.

 

 

 

 

 

• Staff officers practiced algorithms for planning and managing mine countermeasures.

• The Ukrainian Navy gained experience in joint operations in an international environment to further engage partner nations in clearing Ukrainian waters.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy told reporters that the United Kingdom, together with France, had led a conference on reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Ukraine was also invited to participate in the discussion. Zelenskyy himself joined the meeting online.

The Ukrainian minesweepers “Chernihiv” and “Cherkasy” will take part in international exercises in the United Kingdom.
