Hungary does not see Ukraine as a threat, says Balázs Orbán
Balázs Orbán, the political director of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, has stated that Ukraine does not pose a military threat to his country.
He told this to the publication Magyar Hang.
Despite recent accusations by Hungarian authorities against Ukraine regarding alleged interference in parliamentary elections, Balázs Orbán emphasized: “No, we are a NATO member state, and the NATO alliance is strong enough to preserve Hungary’s peace and security. They want to occupy the country politically.”
He also noted that Ukraine seeks for other states to “support its war with money, weapons, and eventually soldiers.” “Since the Hungarian government rejects all three of these demands, Ukraine is spending time, money, and a great deal of effort to replace Viktor Orbán’s government,” added the prime minister’s political director.
Thus, according to Balázs Orbán, Hungary does not see a real military threat from Ukraine and relies on security guarantees from NATO.
As a reminder, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán issued a decree halting the transit of natural gas to Ukraine through Hungarian territory starting in July.
Earlier it was reported that European experts would visit the Druzhba oil pipeline in Ukraine. They are to assess the situation at the facility ahead of an important meeting of EU leaders regarding financial aid to Kyiv.
It was also reported that Ukraine accepted EU aid for the repair of the Druzhba pipeline.
