United Airlines resumes flights from Newark to Tel Aviv
United Airlines operated its first passenger flight from Newark to Israel — to Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv — after a break on the route. A Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner landed in Israel on Wednesday and was scheduled to depart on a return flight to Newark the same day, The Jerusalem Post reports.
Flights between Newark and Tel Aviv
According to the publication, United Airlines had not operated flights on this route since before Operation Roaring Lion in February. At that time, several airlines cancelled flights to Middle Eastern countries, including Israel, amid regular Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks in the region.
The carrier currently operates two daily round-trip flights between its main hub in Newark and Tel Aviv. Starting in November, United Airlines plans to add a third daily flight on this route.

Plans for other US cities
The company also plans to resume direct flights between Tel Aviv and Chicago O'Hare, as well as between Tel Aviv and Washington Dulles, in October. Flights from San Francisco are expected to resume in March 2027.
In August, United Airlines said that flights from San Francisco would provide the highest business-class seat frequency among airlines between these cities. Delta Air Lines has also resumed flights to Israel: its Airbus A330-900neo departed New York's JFK Airport on Sunday and landed at Ben Gurion Airport on Monday, more than 40 minutes ahead of schedule.
