Man reportedly enters RAAF Base Darwin in Australia and steals vehicle
In Australia, a man reportedly unlawfully entered the Royal Australian Air Force's RAAF Base Darwin in Darwin, assaulted a service member and left the area in a stolen vehicle. Police continue searching for him.
Security procedures at the base
According to ABC News Australia, the incident occurred the previous afternoon. A Defence Department spokesperson said that security procedures and protocols envisaged in the event of a facility lockdown had been implemented at the base.
RAAF Darwin security, the Joint Military Police Unit, Northern Territory Police and the Australian Federal Police arrived at the scene. According to the spokesperson, the man allegedly assaulted a member of the Australian Defence Force before leaving the base in a stolen vehicle.

Highway pursuit
Northern Territory Police confirmed that at about 4:30 p.m. the previous day, they received a report of a vehicle theft in Winnellie. Officers pursued the vehicle after spotting it on the Stuart Highway heading south, but later lost sight of it. The investigation is ongoing.
At the beginning of the previous month, a lockdown was also declared at the same base. The Australian Defence Force then explained that it was caused by military training involving special equipment; the situation was resolved within half an hour.
