A body that may belong to a missing 18-year-old girl has been found in Australia
In the Australian state of New South Wales, a woman's body was found in the bush after an eight-day search. Police believe the body may be that of 18-year-old Lily Hooper from Sydney, but the formal identification process has not yet been completed, according to BBC News.
On August 12, Hooper went for a walk in a national park near Sydney. Her family reported her missing that same evening when she had not returned home by 10:00 p.m.
Hooper’s car was found in a parking lot at the base of a challenging trail in Nattai National Park. According to police, the woman’s body was discovered in the Southern Highlands region at approximately 11:30 a.m. local time on Thursday.

Several New South Wales Police units were deployed during the search operation, including aviation, rescue, mounted, K-9, and off-road motorcycle units. The police were also assisted by the Rural Fire Service, the National Parks and Wildlife Service, and nearly 100 Australian Defense Force personnel.
Initially, there was a false report that Hooper had been found alive. New South Wales Premier Chris Minns mentioned this during a parliamentary hearing but soon corrected himself and announced that Lily’s body had been found. He described the situation as devastating for her family and apologized to the committee.
