According to human rights activists, at least 2,707 people were executed worldwide last year, the highest figure since 1981. However, these statistics do not include China, where, according to the organization’s estimates, thousands of executions take place each year, but exact figures remain classified.
Amnesty International notes that the number of executions in 2025 also rose sharply in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, Yemen, Singapore, and the United States.
