A commander of the "Lashkar-e-Taiba" group has died in Islamabad
A senior commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba group, Kari Said Abdul Aziz, died near the Kuba Mosque in Islamabad, according to NDTV World. According to the publication, he arrived at the mosque for prayer, collapsed near the entrance, and died. The cause of death was not immediately determined.
According to NDTV World, Aziz reportedly ate at an unfamiliar restaurant before arriving at the mosque. The outlet describes the circumstances of his death as suspicious but does not cite a confirmed cause of death.
Aziz was in charge of a unit within “Lashkar-e-Taiba” that provided assistance to the families of the group’s militants who were killed during clashes in Jammu and Kashmir.

His death occurred a few days after a statement by Rizwan Hanif, a high-ranking operative of Lashkar-e-Taiba. In the video, Khanif claimed that over the past three to four years, “unknown individuals” had killed more than 30 members of the group in Pakistan and in the territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which the source refers to as “occupied by Pakistan.”
According to Khanif, such incidents were recorded in Peshawar, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Rawalakot, and Muzaffarabad. NDTV World notes that “Lashkar-e-Taiba” is linked to the 2008 Mumbai attacks, which left 166 people dead. According to the publication, the UN added the group to its sanctions list in 2005 due to its ties to al-Qaeda and the Taliban.
