Israel’s Ben-Gvir vows to seek executions of Palestinian prisoners — Anadolu Agency
In Israel, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said that if appointed defense minister, he would seek the execution of Palestinian prisoners and promote the voluntary migration of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.
Video from prison
Ben-Gvir posted on the social network X a video from the cell of Palestinian prisoner Hassan Salameh, whom Israel has held since 1996. In the video, the minister told Salameh that he wants to execute him. As Anadolu Agency reports, in the accompanying post Ben-Gvir said he would seek executions for prisoners such as Salameh if he assumes the post of defense minister.
The politician also said that his Jewish Power party would demand the defense and justice ministerial portfolios as a condition for participating in a future government. He had previously repeatedly advocated relocating Palestinians from Gaza and the occupied West Bank, calling it voluntary migration. Palestinians and Arab countries rejected such proposals.

The case of Hassan Salameh
Hassan Salameh is serving multiple life sentences after an Israeli court found him guilty on charges related to attacks in the 1990s. Israel says that dozens of Israelis were killed or injured as a result of those attacks.
In March, the Knesset approved legislation allowing the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners in certain cases. The initiative was supported by Ben-Gvir and his party; it prompted criticism and protests in Arab countries and the region. Elections to Israel’s Knesset are scheduled for October 27.
