Two Palestinians charged in Israel over plot to attack Minister Ben-Gvir — Jerusalem Post

Two Palestinians have been charged in Israel in a case involving the alleged preparation of attacks on Israeli civilians and security forces, as well as a possible attempt on National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. According to the Jerusalem Post, the Israeli Shin Bet security service and the counterterrorism unit of the Judea and Samaria District Police announced this.

Investigators' account

According to the indictment, the two defendants had jointly engaged in activities that investigators describe as military in nature since the end of 2023. Case materials state that they acquired M16 and M4 rifles, Kalashnikov assault rifles, pistols, a hunting rifle and ammunition.

Investigators also said that the defendants attempted to recruit and train other participants, held shooting practice and discussed various attack scenarios. Among the alleged plans reported by law enforcement were attacks using car bombs and drones, shootings, and the kidnapping of Israeli servicemen.

Plans to attack Ben-Gvir

During interrogations, Israeli security forces claim it emerged that the defendants began discussing an attack on Ben-Gvir in 2024. After watching a video in which the minister arrives at the scene of an attack, one of them, according to the prosecution, proposed carrying out an attack from a vehicle after waiting for the official to arrive.

He later allegedly considered using a drone carrying explosives and sought assistance in purchasing drone parts in China. The court repeatedly extended the defendants' detention. After police and Shin Bet said they had established an evidentiary basis, the Samaria military prosecution filed indictments. Ben-Gvir said this was the eleventh attempt to attack him and assured that threats would not force him to change his policy.
