Israeli soldier suspended after shooting near Al-Mughayyir
In Israel, an off-duty Israel Defense Forces soldier was detained by West Bank District police after he opened fire toward Palestinians on the outskirts of the village of Al-Mughayyir. The soldier said that stones had been thrown at him. No one was injured in the incident.
Review of the shooting circumstances
As The Jerusalem Post reports, the soldier was taken in for questioning to clarify the circumstances of the use of the weapon. The Israel Defense Forces suspended him from service until the review is completed.
The Israeli military noted that no other on-duty service members were nearby during the shooting.

Incidents near the village
According to the military, on Saturday Israeli service members arrived several times at the Palestinian village of Al-Mughayyir following reports of stone-throwing between village residents and Israeli civilians. After the military arrived, stones were also thrown at them.
The incident occurred amid rising tensions in the West Bank. Earlier on Sunday, security officials said that Hamas would likely try to carry out plans for attacks on Israeli military personnel and civilians.
