At the UN, Nebenzia cast doubt on Romania's account of the crash of a Russian drone

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, commented on the incident involving a Russian drone that crashed into a residential building in the Romanian city of Galați. The Russian diplomat cast doubt on the official account of the incident provided by the Romanian side.

This was reported by Clash Report.

According to Nebenzia, the consequences of the strike allegedly do not match what would be expected after a Russian drone hit a residential building.

“If such a drone had indeed struck the roof of the building, the consequences would not have been limited to the fire shown by the Romanian media, the Russian representative stated.

He also added that in the event of a direct hit on the roof of the building, in his opinion, “it would have been completely destroyed.”

As a reminder, Romanian authorities previously reported that a Russian drone had crashed into a high-rise residential building in Galați. The incident caused a fire on the building’s roof and injured two people.

The incident sparked international outrage, and a number of world leaders expressed support for Romania following the incident. At the same time, the Russian side continues to deny responsibility for the attack and casts doubt on the circumstances of the drone’s crash.

The incident marked yet another episode of tension surrounding the security of NATO countries amid Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine.

The investigation into the high-profile incident involving a drone crashing into a residential building in Romania on May 29 has concluded with official confirmation of its origin. Experts have clearly established that a Russian Geran-2 strike drone, which is a direct counterpart to the Iranian Shahed, crashed into the building
