A criminal case has been opened in Ukraine following an assassination attempt on a businessman in Monaco

Criminal proceedings have been opened in Ukraine following the assassination attempt on Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolayev in Monaco. Law enforcement officials are examining possible links between the perpetrators and Ukraine and are preparing to establish an international investigative team to conduct a joint investigation with foreign partners.

 

According to the investigation, the incident occurred on June 29 near a residential building in Monaco, where an explosive device detonated. Three members of the same family were injured as a result of the explosion. Ukrainian law enforcement officials have already launched an investigation into this incident. Proceedings have been opened under the article concerning a completed attempt to intentionally murder two or more persons, committed in a dangerous manner and on commission.

“Criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 2 of Article 15 and subparagraphs 1, 5, and 11 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—an attempted murder of two or more persons, committed in a manner dangerous to the lives of many people, on contract,” the Office of the Prosecutor General reported. Currently, investigators from the National Police of Ukraine are identifying possible perpetrators of the crime who may be located within Ukraine.

The Office of the Prosecutor General also noted that Ukraine is initiating the creation of an international investigative team, which will allow Ukrainian and foreign law enforcement agencies to join forces for a more effective investigation. It was separately emphasized that the Ukrainian side is already cooperating with the competent authorities in Monaco and international partners to exchange information and coordinate investigative actions.

It was also previously reported that Interpol, the International Criminal Police Organization, issued an arrest warrant for Ukrainian citizen Anastasia Berezovska. She is suspected of possible involvement in planning or organizing the assassination attempt on Vadym Yermolayev. The investigation is ongoing; law enforcement officials are examining all possible scenarios and identifying individuals who may have been involved in the crime. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General on July 3.

Investigators in Monaco believe that 39-year-old Ukrainian Anastasia Berezovska, who is suspected of attempting to assassinate businessman Vadym Yermolayev and his family, left the principality after the explosion and fled to Germany.

Interpol has issued an international arrest warrant for Ukrainian citizen Anastasia Berezovska, who is considered the prime suspect in the case of the attempted assassination of businessman Vadym Yermolayev in Monaco. Her identity has already been officially disclosed, and her photograph has begun circulating online.

Yermolayev’s hitman may be a Russian citizen, according to social media.
