Video: Sandu Presented Zelenskyy with Moldova’s Highest Honor
On August 24, Moldovan President Maia Sandu awarded Volodymyr Zelenskyy the “Order of the Republic”—the country’s highest state honor. The award was granted for his exceptional contribution to the defense of peace and freedom in Europe.
The President of Moldova arrived in Kyiv to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence alongside Ukrainians. She emphasized that for four and a half years, Ukrainians have been defending not only their own country but also peace on the European continent.
“For four and a half years now, Ukrainians have been defending their country, and thanks to their courage, they are defending peace across the entire continent. Moldova lives in peace, in part, thanks to this courage,” Sandu stated.
The Moldovan leader announced that she had the honor of presenting Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the “Order of the Republic.” The Ukrainian president received the award for his exceptional contribution to the defense of peace and freedom on the European continent.
The award also served as a token of gratitude from the Moldovan people for the courage of Ukrainians who are standing up to Russian aggression. The “Order of the Republic,” which Sandu awarded to Zelenskyy, is the highest state honor of the Republic of Moldova.

Earlier, the prime ministers of the United Kingdom and Luxembourg, the president of Moldova, and the leader of Estonia arrived in Kyiv.
As a reminder, on August 24, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham arrived in Kyiv on his first foreign visit in office. London will allow the disclosure of classified information regarding the British components of SCALP missiles.
While in Kyiv, Finnish President Alexander Stubb announced the preparation of two aid packages for Ukraine—to strengthen air defense and support the energy sector ahead of winter.
