According to The Korea Herald, the decision was reportedly unrelated to circumstances at South Korea’s Finance Ministry or to the G20 meeting itself.

Speculation about personnel changes

The unusual cancellation of an overseas trip after the official had arrived at the airport prompted speculation about his future role in the government. The presidential administration is preparing a second wave of cabinet appointments after accepting the resignation of Justice Minister Jeong Seong-ho.
