Armenia no longer considers Russia a strategic ally

Armenia no longer considers Russia a strategic ally

Armenia’s new government program for 2026–2031 no longer refers to Russia as a strategic ally.

Yerevan states only its intention to transform and deepen its partnership with Moscow.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attributed this to the events of September 2022, when, according to him, Russia and the CSTO failed to fulfill their obligations regarding Armenia’s security.

As a reminder, in 2024, Yerevan suspended its participation in the CSTO.

As a reminder, Pashinyan is recalling Armenia’s ambassador to Russia amid deteriorating relations.

Armenia has sharply increased its exports to the EU amid trade restrictions imposed by Russia.
