Castro's grandson tried to deliver a letter to Trump without going through diplomatic channels

The grandson of former Cuban leader Raúl Castro attempted to deliver a letter to Donald Trump outside of official diplomatic channels.

This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.

According to the publication, the letter, which contained proposals for economic cooperation and the easing of sanctions, was to be delivered by a Cuban businessman. The document also included a warning about Cuba’s preparations for a possible U.S. invasion.

However, the courier was stopped at Miami International Airport by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers. The letter was seized and sent back to Havana.

The White House has not confirmed whether it received the document.

Experts believe that the Cuban side was attempting to send a message directly to Trump, bypassing official channels of communication.

The Russian tanker Anatoly Kolodkin, part of Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet,” docked off the coast of Cuba and began unloading fuel.

U.S. President Donald Trump has made it clear that Washington does not object to countries, including Russia, supplying oil to Cuba.
